Just a few years ago, the big "Black Friday" bargain hunting wave from America also spilled over into Switzerland. The day of action, with its oversized special offers, does not appeal to everyone - and we at MY SNOWFLAKE would also like to turn to White Friday, in line with the motto #noblackfriday.
This year, too, we will donate 10% of our daily turnover on Black Friday to a charitable organization. This year's proceeds will go to the family houses of the Ronald McDonald Foundation. Our founder, Sara Hurler, has a special relationship with this foundation.
Sara herself found accommodation at the Ronald McDonald House in Lucerne during a difficult time. Her first son was born prematurely and had to stay in the hospital for almost five weeks. The proximity to the hospital provided by the Ronald McDonald House was a true blessing.
"I was warmly welcomed from the start and was glad to be able to talk to other mothers there who had their children in the hospital. The proximity to the Cantonal Hospital is brilliant, and I was able to visit our newborn as often as possible."
On November 26, 2021, as customers, you will pay the full price, but we will donate 10% of the daily turnover to the Ronald McDonald Foundation, which provides parents of seriously ill children with a temporary home so that they can be close to their loved ones during this difficult time.
The Ronald McDonald Children's Foundation now operates six family houses in Switzerland with 52 rooms, connected to its partner hospitals in Basel, Bern, Geneva, Lucerne and St. Gallen. They offer beautiful, modern family rooms so that parents can always be close to their sick child when they wake up in the hospital. Shared kitchens and common rooms offer space for exchange with other affected parents. Those who want peace and quiet can retreat at any time. Well-kept outdoor areas & parks provide space to breathe. Thanks to the affordable rooms, a stay in a Ronald McDonald House is open to everyone.
MORE ABOUT THE RONALD MCDONALD CHILDREN'S FOUNDATION
The Ronald McDonald Children's Foundation has been supporting families with seriously ill children since 1992, helping parents to be close to their sick children - when they need it most. If a child has to be hospitalized, being close to Mom and Dad is true medicine. Since very few hospitals offer overnight accommodation for parents and they are often far from home, the Ronald McDonald Foundation helps. In their family houses, they offer parents and siblings a temporary home near the young patients. This way, sick children in hospital do not have to do without their families.
They primarily support families with young children - but their offer applies to all families with children aged 0 to 18 - regardless of origin and financial background. The only prerequisite is treatment in one of their partner hospitals in Basel, Bern, Geneva, Lucerne and St. Gallen.
The foundation is 100% financed by donations. The first donor was McDonald's founder Ray Kroc. A significant part still comes from the donation boxes in McDonald's restaurants - from customers.
